Our Basic trip takes place at Moose Lake (Evangeline Lake) southwest of Espanola, Ontario where our 40 acre piece of wilderness is located on the eastern edge. It is situated about 1.5 km north of the La Cloche Ridge just north of the North Channel (Georgian Bay) that runs between Manitoulin Island and the mainland. Our Intermediate trip is the canoe route to Killarney Provincial Park, originating near Hwy #6 between Espanola and Little Current and travelling East to Killarney through the LaCloche Mountains. |

LaCloche’s white quartzite cliffs form some of Ontario's tallest peaks. These beautiful formations mark the southern edge of the Canadian Shield. The La Cloche Ridge runs from Killarny Park, through La Cloche Provincial Park to Blind River in the east. The legend of the LaCloche Mountains says that these rocks were Aboriginal tocsins (warning bells) used for signaling. The “Bell Rocks” when struck could be heard for a considerable distance. Hence, the area was named with the French word for “bell” — La Cloche. |
Our Advanced trip is an extended trip down the Spanish River originating in Biscotasing and travelling downriver to Agnew Lake. The Spanish River valley has been designated as part of Ontario's Living Legacy Park Lands. This trip is one way and includes a trip on Via Rail's "Budd Car" which departs Sudbury on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Personal vehicles are shuttled to Webbwood and a pick-up is scheduled for Agnew Lake (we can also offer different start and finish points on the Spanish to shorten the trip). |
